Enjoy an incredible night of classical music coming to the Moody Performance Hall! Entitled Beauty and Bach, this special concert marks the return of the Avant Chamber Ballet with an exciting triple bill of musical masterworks from the 19th, 20th, and 21st century.
Every music lover is sure to enjoy this sweeping showcase of moving classical pieces. The evening’s program will feature innovative choreography performed alongside history’s greatest compositions including Bach’s Concerto Barocco, Copeland’s Appalachian Spring, and the timeless score for Aurora's Wedding in Sleeping Beauty from Tchaikovsky.
The evening opens with George Balanchine's visionary dance for Concerto Barocco, one of the most iconic works by the choreographer and one of the most moving accompaniments to Bach's Double Violin Concerto. Next will be the world premiere of Katie Cooper's Appalachian Spring. It will feature Copland's 13-member orchestra suite arrangement and neo-classical dancing that frames the story of Appalachia that Copland envisioned for this masterpiece. Closing the program is the grandeur and classicism of Aurora's Wedding, a flawless dance that is indivisible from the iconic musical score. With so much to offer audiences, this one-of-a-kind concert is one show you can’t miss, you be sure to see it live at the Moody Performance Hall.
